Gates of Kryta quest has some Lynxs walking around.
Secondly you can call targets by selecting them and hitting CTRL-SPACE.

I don't think anything major was done. By the end of this weekend I was using a 14-26 bow...after putting in Favorable winds, Read the wind, and then hitting Powershot or Penetrating attack,.. I was dealing (+3,+7,+15, +bow average at attri 10..for powershot..and +3,+7,+13 w/ -20%AL, +bow average at attir 10..for penetrate) very respectable per shot damage. Average damage I came out with per shot ended up being 30-50 points. Pop off 2-3 shots on a PvE target and they usually went down. Most times before they got to run up and hit me.
It was just a slight balancing...average overall damage only went down about 10-15 per shot like that over last BWE. The way I see it, it just kept me from making too easy of a kill from it.
Edit : (Ti-Ben.... hehe...you also have a bit more "access and time in" than me. 30-50 average damage for a level 10 character is actually quite good. Decided I should just stick with one character this last BWE to see just how far along she could go. Lvl 12.5.... not bad for 12hrs playing time )

Rangers we're just balanced. That's all. I was one of the 2 rangers in our build this weekend and I was still dishing quite a lot of 80+ damage shots, quite easily and quite frequently thanks to Tiger's Fury. And I didn't use Power Shot or Penetrating Attack or Read the Wind!

I think the ranger is still very useful, they just made it a class that is more difficult to be successful at is all. You can still do whatever you wanted to do before as a ranger, you just have to think harder at how you're going to do it and find new ways to make it happen.

That's exactly where I got mine. Right there at the beginning of that map.
I discovered an Elder Lynx or something like that in the maps below Divinity Coast. The one I saw was Level 15 and my Lynx was level 10 when I got him. I think the map I saw the Elder Lynx on was The Black Curtain. It had a bunch of Inferno Imp mobs.

Yeah, rangers needed the hit on tigers fury :P it's a lot more balanced now. Though I still think rangers should get more choice on firepower. Barrage/Hunters/Penetrate is about the only moves I can think of that work.
Pets are just horrible I don't see how anyone can say they rocked. Even at 10 beast mastery, that stupid pvp wolf couldn't knock a chunk off anyones hp, and they hit about as fast as my shortbow. There's no real incentive to use them in PVP, other then jokes.

It must be a pain if you are playing with a pet and suddenly you spot a level 15 pet out there but no trainer to take the one you have off your hands. It would be nice if
A) You didn't have to equip Charm Animal except when you are actually charming one.
B) You could just free your pet when you charm another.
Now if we could charm up to 3 pets...THAT might be worth it! Lol!

yea, the charm defintely need to do something more than just having the pet itself... at least be able to heal the pet or something... their default damage are really too low, and now that there isnt any dmg buff... the charm alone would be a complete waste of space.

Rangers may not be the most powerful, but they can shut pretty much any class up pretty quickly, and they are nearly invincible.

Melandru's Arrows can easily add you another 30 damage alone if speced very high... that is on targets who are enchanted of course and almost everyone is once you focus fire then. On caster you can hit easily hit 30 with a normal attack and the right +damage mods on it, it goes higher. In my case I had +15% while in stance (and I was in one whenever possible) and then had the +20% from the pvp weapon bonus, the damage on the now is increased a lot just there, top it off with another 30 for them having an enchantment and you get 60-70 damage shots, all the time without skills. I just threw Hunter's and Determined Shot when I could to give 80+ shots easily.
Damage is always high. You can easily eat threw the likes of Healing Hands and Seeds, Reversal of Fortune and Mark of Protection, which are all enchantments, and make my ranger hit harder. Whenever someone had an enchantment with +armor (ie Armor of Earth), my damage went slightly down to 40-50, which is still a lot for normal attacks.

I noticed that the pet buffs I could find (haste and protection) both talk about your animals, plural.
I think a design where you used up one skill slot for each animal you bring would be balanced. You could then bring 8, but then you would have no buffs and be rather vulnerable yourself.

More like because their not the priority :P No one's going to take out a ranger over a monk/mesmer I think.

A Ranger may not be taken out first, but they are a priority with the damage they can do. The only thing is that they can do quite a bit of damge before you run up to them to attack. I know I died alot less with my R/Mo than my friend did with his E/Me, even without healing myself.

At low level, with a low damage bow and no skill attacks to speak of, a ranger does pitiful damage and is a tough character to solo. Having a pet in the early levels takes away some of the grinding pain. The acquisition of good skills as early as possible is a must.
My level 16 ranger did great in a team, but needed to play with care out on her own with henches, particularly in the mob scenes. She used Ignite Arrow and Penetrating shot, which were the best skills in her arsenal. I never found barrage or some of the other high powered skills.
Towards the end, with a 14-26 dmg bow, using ignite arrow and penetrating or power attack, she did about 80 dmg a shot.
With my guild, we had members with Ranger subclass, and had three pets. The pets kept the worst melee attackers occupied while we did them in. This, I think, is the real value of the pet.

Because Calls apply to all pets in your party, which is nice when you have multiple rangers.
